Tarlan Gorchu (b. 1953, Baku) graduated from the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts in 1977. He is a theatre director and an honoured artist. He is the founder and director of the Baku Marionette Theatre. He gained professional creative experience in Baku, Moscow, Tbilisi, and Warsaw. Apart from his main activity, he works in the field of modern art as a master of classical and modern Oriental calligraphy, a design artist, and is famous as a publisher-designer of children's books and art albums. He is regularly invited to exhibitions held in Azerbaijan and abroad, both as a participant and as a member of the organizing committee. He has successfully realized numerous design projects and installations in Baku, Warsaw, Paris, Vilnius, Moscow, Basel, Berlin, Tbilisi, London, and Venice. Tarlan Gorchu is a member of the Union of Azerbaijan Artists and the Union of Theatre Workers of Azerbaijan.
