Aida Mahmudova



Aida Mahmudova is an Azerbaijani artist, founder of YARAT Contemporary Art Space, and CHELEBI brand. In her artistic practice, she explores themes of memory, place, and belonging, and experiments with materiality through installations, sculpture, and painting.  

                                       

Aida Mahmudova (b. 1982, Baku) graduated from St. Martin's College of Art and Design in London with a degree in painting. She has held large-scale international solo exhibitions (USA, Belgium, UK, Italy, Turkey, Russia, Switzerland, Georgia): “A Dream Unfolds”, Vision Art Platform, Istanbul, 2024; “Heaven Can Wait”, Zurab Tsereteli MoMA, Tbilisi, 2022; “Liminality”, Gazelli Art House, London, 2022; “PastPresentFuture”, Sapar Contemporary Gallery, New York, 2021; “Can't Capture The Light”, Deweer Gallery, Otegem, 2017; “Passing by”, Leila Heller Gallery, New York, 2015; “Internal Peace”, Barbarian Art Gallery, Zurich, 2013.
